Family Development
WSOS provides comprehensive family development, workforce development, education and child care assistance and other support services to families and individuals desiring to obtain basic needs stability, greater independence and self sufficiency.
Staff help families prepare for successful employment opportunities. We help individuals gain and retain employment with benefits, provide follow up services to ensure long term job retention and build community partnerships to support these efforts.
This is addressed through basic needs financial assistance programs, family and workforce development activities including case management, life skills, educational and vocational development and individual counseling.

August 27, 2008 - Sandusky River Clean Sweep nets 2 tons of trash
With a record 304 volunteers walking the Sandusky River recently between Tiffin and McCutchensville to clean up debris and trash from the river, the group netted 2.05 tons of trash. [continued]

August 21, 2008 - Terra partners with WSOS to train manufacturing workers
Terra Community College will provide the technical education while WSOS will provide the students and support – thanks to funding from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. This educational partnership is an effort to improve the education and employment skills of 18-21-year-olds in an eight-county area of Northwest Ohio. [continued]

August 11, 2008 - Deadline for cooling assistance weeks away
In July, the Summer Cooling Program operated by WSOS Community Action Commission, provided assistance with air conditions and electric bill payments to 162 households for at total of $14,467.

July 21, 2008 - WSOS to use fundraising dollars for air conditioners
Beginning Monday, July 21, WSOS will use funds from its annual fund-raising account to help area residents stay cool during the summer months. [continued]
