July 28, 2008 - WSOS accepting preschool applications now
The WSOS Head Start/Early Childhood Development Program is accepting preschool applications now for children from three- to five-years-old, and whose families are income-eligible and who live in the Tiffin or Fostoria areas. [continued]

July 28, 2008 - Stratified phosphorus soil testing available for area farmers
Farmers within the Sandusky River Basin are eligible to participate in a pilot stratified soil-testing program. The program is designed to provide information on the extent of phosphorus stratification in area soils, as it relates to soil type, tillage practices and nutrient management practices. Farmers and their advisors will receive the complete results from their stratified soil tests. [continued]

Port Clinton Pointe housing community is seeking residents in the Port Clinton area. Since May, the housing development has been taking applications and hopes to fill all the units by the end of September.

Of the 28 Ohio counties listed as having the highest foreclosure rates, WSOS is serving four of them with foreclosure assistance.

July 21, 2008 - WSOS to use fundraising dollars for air conditioners
Beginning Monday, July 21, WSOS will use funds from its annual fund-raising account to help area residents stay cool during the summer months. [continued]

July 9, 2008 - Utility costs making a dent in food and shelter funds
Of the $47,122 awarded to Sandusky County earlier this year to supplement Emergency Food and Shelter Programs (EFSP) in the county, WSOS has used $22,980 by mid-June to help residents pay their utility bills. Last year, it took a month and a half to use $21,000. [continued]

The WSOS Child Development program is recruiting preschoolers ages 3-5 years old for its new center at 135 East Front Street, Pemberville. [continued]

July 2, 2008 - Watershed coalition gets funding for medication disposal
The Sandusky River Watershed Coalition recently was awarded a grant by the American Water Association (AWA) to establish a medication buyback program. [continued]

June 25, 2008 - Frito Lay donates more than $8,000 to WSOS Head Start
Toting bags of chips and other goodies made by Frito Lay, select families from the WSOS Head Start program expressed their gratitude to employees of the company for their generosity. [continued]
