Since 1965, WSOS Community Action Commission has been administering programs and support services to individuals, families, and communities. Established in response to the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, WSOS was created to aid in the war on poverty. WSOS is a non-profit agency devoted to assisting families and individuals become self-sufficient.
We help people help themselves.

The name WSOS comes from the counties we operate in.
Wood, Sandusky, Ottawa and Seneca.

May 9, 2008 - Ukrainians seek social service delivery skills here
Ten Ukrainian professionals visiting NW Ohio will participate in a roundtable discussion with local leaders on Friday, May 16, at DaVinci’s Coffee Shop. The delegation is seeking information on “Family Preservation.” Family preservation services are either not available or just emerging in Ukraine. [continued]

May 9, 2008 - CCC corps members help city clean up bike trail
With warmer temperatures arriving and residents ready to play outside, staff at the Fremont City Recreation Department found themselves overwhelmed to keep up with the maintenance and spring-cleaning of its facilities. So, Recreation Director Marc Glotzbecker solicited the assistance of the corps members at the WSOS Civilian Conservation Corps Camp in Green Springs. [continued]

May 5, 2008 - Clyde’s New Directions ready for summer
On Monday, June 16, New Directions Summer School program will open its doors to elementary school students in the Clyde-Green Springs school district. Enrollment for this summer program is taking place now.

May 5, 2008 - Community Action Month comes to WSOS
WSOS Community Action Commission inc. is joining the 52 other community action agencies around Ohio and the more than 1,000 nationwide to celebrate its successes as part of National Community Action Month in May.

May 5, 2008 - Summer program enrolling students now
Fremont City Schools will provide summer school services to students in the school district for six weeks beginning June 23, and enrollment is ongoing now. [continued]

May 5, 2008 - Fostoria's Project Success ready for summer
On Monday, June 9, Project Success Summer School program will open its doors to students at two sites in the Fostoria school district. Enrollment for this summer program is taking place now.

May 1, 2008 - Two from WSOS serving on UWV advisory board
Deb Martin, director of the Community Development department at WSOS, and Julie Ward, an RCAP field agent, have been asked to serve on an advisory board at the University of West Virginia.

April 25, 2008 - WSOS’ Fatherhood program discussed at national workshop
Roger Fisher, employment services coordinator at WSOS and a Clyde resident, spent April 23 in Washington D.C. sharing information about the WSOS Fatherhood initiative with representatives of other Fatherhood initiatives from around the nation.
