AfterSchool Program

Description:
Eligible elementary and middle school students are given opportunities to enhance their academic performance. Services include activities in nutrition, recreation, tutoring, homework assistance and parent involvement.

Description:
These programs are income based for youth and young adults. These programs provide participants with educational and occupational training with the potential for job placement opportunities.

Description:
These programs offer adults a chance to learn job skills with the possibility of on-the-job training and job placement opportunities.

Energy Conservation

Description:
We offer a variety of energy conservation programs aimed at reducing energy consumption and educating participants on energy saving measures that can be utilized to lower utility bills. Our trained inspectors will conduct energy audits, inspect homes to identify heating inefficiencies, and work with residents to reduce their consumption and lower their utility bills

Foreclosure Prevention

Description:
Available to aid homeowners who are facing foreclosure. Counseling includes forming a crisis budget, understanding the timeline of foreclosure, and receiving option and referrals available for assistance.

Home Buyer Assistance

Description:
Down payment and closing costs assistance is available for qualified first time home buyers. WSOS also offers home-ownership counseling services in order to educate and prepare participants for home-ownership.

Home Rehabilitation/Repairs

Description:
Assistance for home building repairs and rehabilitation are available for eligible homeowners. This assistance is in the form of a grant or a deferred loan.

Home Weatherization

Description:
Program provides free home weatherization measures to eligible participants. Offer complete home inspection to determine insulation needs and address any health and safety issues. (Landlord contributions are required)

Housing Assistance

Description:
Provides an array of housing services for homeless or pending homeless individuals and/or families. These services include intensive case management, short term rental assistance, and supportive services.

Description:
Services to children ages birth to three and their families. Education, health, nutrition, parent involvement and social services are offered through home-based or childcare options for the family.

Description:
Services to children ages three and four and their families. Education, health, nutrition, parent involvement and social services are offered through various options for families; including center-based, home-based and childcare.

Senior Services

Description:
WSOS provides a range of services to people 60 years of age and older. Services include: nutritional lunches, socialization, medical assessments and educational activities at senior centers. Special events such as pleasure trips, breakfast and evening dinners occur. Transportation is available. Services for homebound seniors include home delivered meals.

Description:
Loans for existing and start-up businesses.

Transportation

Description:
General public transportation provider for Sandusky County providing curb-to-curb service. A Passenger Care Attendant (PCA) can assist with door-through-door service for elderly and disabled passengers. Low fare rides to employment, medical, shopping, etc. Rides must be scheduled 24 hours in advance, and request PCA service if needed. Wheelchair accessible vehicles based on availability.

Utility Assistance

Description:
Provides emergency assistance for electric and heating bills to households threatened with a utility shut off, already disconnected, or having less than a ten day fuel supply.

Community and Economic Development Services

Description:
Provides a variety of planning services for communities to strategically plan for their future and help bring in capital for local businesses to retain and/or expand jobs.

Community Loan Fund

Description:
The Community Loan Fund provides loans for facility improvements, which includes but is not limited to: the development and rehabilitation of infrastructure (water, wastewater, and storm water), parks, buildings, etc. The goal is to stimulate and sustain community development and increase access to capital for low income areas. The intent of the fund is to provide gap financing after other available sources are researched and/or obtained or to finance projects that require a smaller amount of capital.

Rural Community Assistance Program (RCAP)

Description:
Provides technical assistance to small, rural communities to help solve water and wastewater problems. The majority of these services are at no cost.

Description:
Provides leadership for the conservation and enhancement of the Sandusky River watershed and its natural resources through community-based planning, education, and action.
